Located in the west part of the county, it borders the following townships: The village of Spencer is located in central Spencer Township.
The Spencer Lake Wildlife Area is a 618-acre public hunting and fishing park featuring wetlands and a dog training area surrounding an artificial lake constructed in 1961, and rebuilt and enlarged in 1986.
[3] The park lies two miles east of the village of Spencer.
Spencer Township has the name of Calvin Spencer, who helped build a school in exchange for the naming rights.
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
