Sphenomorphus derooyae is a species of skink, a lizard in the family Scincidae.
S. derooyae is found in New Guinea and in the Bismarck Archipelago, including Admiralty Islands,[1][2] New Britain, and New Ireland.
[2] The preferred natural habitat of S. derooyae is forest, at altitudes from sea level to 1,500 m (4,900 ft).
[2] S. derooyae may be a species complex, and the proper name for populations outside the New Guinean mainland is uncertain.
[1] The specific name, derooyae, is in honor of Dutch zoologist Nelly de Rooij (spelled "de Rooy" by de Jong).
