Mazzuchelli, however, did not reside in Iowa City, nor did many of the early priests, who served multiple parishes and were based elsewhere.
Francis P. McCormick (1851–52) resided in Iowa City, but there is no mention of a rectory in church records.
The rectory was constructed to the west of the original church on the north side of the property along the alley.
[3] Following Father Hannon, other clergy who lived in the rectory included the Revs.
The dwelling is a simple wood-frame structure with a side gable that was built on a limestone foundation.
It is a rare example of a vernacular form of the Greek Revival style found in Iowa City.
The second floor entrance-way that opens onto the balcony on top of the porch is original to the structure.
