St Ambrose's Church, Speke

It is an active parish church in the Archdiocese of Liverpool and the Pastoral Area of Woolton and Halewood.

It was built to serve the housing estate of Speke, which had been started in the 1930s, and which was expanded in the 1950s.

To the north is a campanile 84 feet (26 m) high, joined to the body of the church by a low entrance range.

[2] Inside the church are tunnel vaults on three sides with a segmental arcade carried on square columns; this forms an ambulatory.

A stone altar slab stands on three steps, and is flanked by a font and a pulpit.

[4] The listing description states that the building is "on an unusually broad and ambitious scale that is relatively little altered".
