St John's Church, Throapham

[2] The church stands on the site of at least one Celtic well, and some of its fabric dates from the Anglo-Saxon period.

The fabric of the nave dates from several phases of building during the medieval period.

The tower was added in the 15th century, while in 1709 the chancel and porch were rebuilt.

[3] Also in the church is a carved stone coffin lid dating from about 1300.

[3] The church is available for visiting and open weekends and guided tours are organised.
