Stage Fright (2014 film)

Stage Fright is a 2014 Canadian musical comedy slasher film directed by Jerome Sable and is his feature-film directorial debut.

[3] It stars Allie MacDonald as a hopeful young singer terrorized by a killer at a musical theater camp.

She manages to convince a camper overseeing the auditions, Joel Hopton, to let her in and Camilla easily impresses the stage director Artie and wins the lead role of Sofia - much to Buddy's dismay.

Roger learns the truth, turns violent, manages to free himself, and attacks Buddy, fatally stabbing him to death.

The website's consensus reads, "There might be a good movie to be made from mashing up the slasher and musical genres; unfortunately, Stage Fright isn't quite it.

[7] We Got This Covered and The Austin Chronicle also praised the film,[8] with the latter commenting that it was "the best unconventional operetta since South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.

"[9] Flickering Myth concluded "A few more musical numbers and a bigger death toll could have pushed the rating up, but for what it is Stage Fright is a hilarious riot",[10] while Cinevue's review noted "Horror, comedy and musical are all at play and, under the masterful hand of writer and director Jerome Sable, make for deliciously gory fun".
