Staicele

Staicele (pronunciationⓘ; German: Staizel; Livonian: Staitsõl) is a town in Limbaži Municipality, in the Vidzeme region of Latvia.

The area of Staicele has been inhabited only since the 19th century when a tavern and ferryman's house on the banks of Salaca river are mentioned.

In 1887 the owners of Rozēni and Ungura manors built a bridge over Salaca in that place.

In 1897 a paper mill was built and a larger settlement started to grow around it.

After the First World War Staicele became the centre of the Rozēni parish.
