Shier OBE, CD, MD (29 September 1903 – 9 August 1968[1]) was the 18th Canadian Surgeon General.
Born in Pefferlaw, Ontario, Stanley G.U., was educated at the University of Toronto, where he graduated with a Medical Degree in 1930.
[1] In 1932, Shier joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, and was stationed at London, Kingston, Halifax and Ottawa.
In 1941, he was sent overseas where he served as the Deputy Assistant Director, Medical Services, 2nd Canadian Division.
Following these command roles Shier was appointed Director General Medical Services (Army), in 1956, where he remained until his retirement in 1958.
