Prior to relocating to Brazil,[1] Harney taught at Singapore Management University, but was dismissed in part for awarding all his students A grades.
[2][3][4] Since then, he has taught at Royal Holloway, University of London[5] as well as at the European Graduate School.
In 1985, Harney received a BA in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard University.
