Stephanie Burgis

Stephanie Burgis (born May 28, 1977) is an American fantasy writer for both children and adults.

Though born in East Lansing, Michigan, in 1977, Burgis is based in Wales along with husband Patrick Samphire and their sons.

Burgis went to Michigan State University, studied music history and French horn performance in the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and then completed a year as a Fulbright scholar in Vienna.

In 2011 she won the inaugural Waverton Good Read Children's Award for her novel A Most Improper Magick.

Burgis has published in Strange Horizons, Daily Science Fiction, and Beneath Ceaseless Skies and others.
