Born in New York on September 29, 1975,[1] Klein graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College, in 1997 with a B.A.

Klein first gained popularity through her blog, Greek Tragedy, which was originally created as a showcase for her advertising portfolio.

In 2004, The Independent in London discovered her blog and dubbed her "The Internet Queen of Manhattan."

In 2005, she was featured on the front cover of The New York Times Sunday Styles section, where it was reported that Greek Tragedy was in the top 1% of all blogs.
