Stephen DeCanio

Stephen DeCanio (born 1942) is a Professor of economics, emeritus, at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

His current research deals with the impact of artificial intelligence on society, the economy, and culture.

His recent research has also addressed the consequences of computational limits for economics and social theory more generally.

He studied mathematics as an undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley and received his Ph.D in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1972.
