Steven Robert James (born 29 November 1949) is an English former professional footballer who played at centre-back.
Born in Coseley, England, James started his career as an apprentice at Manchester United in December 1965.
During his time at Old Trafford, he collected a Football League Second Division title medal in 1975 but then lost his place in the first team and this prompted his move to Bootham Crescent.
He made 119 appearances and scored 2 goals for the club, and joined non-league Kidderminster Harriers in May 1980.
[4] His Division 2 winners' medal was found in a junior school near Telford in January 2012, having been missing for over 30 years.
