Stinson Anderson

Stinson H. Anderson (April 21, 1800 – September 1857) was an American politician who served as the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois between 1838 and 1842.

During the Black Hawk War Anderson enlisted as a private in the mounted volunteers of Illinois, staff sergeant major in the battalion of spies[2] and in the United States Army as a lieutenant.

He resigned this post in 1837 to reenlisted in the army as a captain in the 2nd regiment of Dragoons and served in the Second Seminole War based in Fort Call in Volusia, Florida.

In 1838 he was elected to the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Illinois over William H. Davidson with 33,335 votes to 28716.

Stinson Anderson died in September 1857 in Jefferson County and was buried on the Old Union Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
