Stretton, Cheshire West and Chester

Stretton is a hamlet and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England.

The small, rural parish also includes the hamlet of Wetreins Green (pronounced Wetrens or Wet-er-ans).

[1] Stretton means "settlement on a Roman road", derived from the Old English strǣt and tūn.

[2] In this case the road was the Via Devana, which ran between Whitchurch in Shropshire and Chester.
