“This is a natural next step in our partnership with North Shore-LIJ Health System,” President Rabinowitz said in announcing the new nursing school.

In July 2016, Wright State University in Ohio, which was scheduled to host the first presidential debate on Sept. 26, 2016, dropped out, citing costs and security concerns.
During Rabinowitz's tenure, the university prioritized civic engagement, launching voter registration campaigns and hosting debates for local and statewide races as well, including Nassau County Executive, Nassau County District Attorney and New York state Governor.
