Stubbers Green Bog and Swan Pool and The Swag are two Sites of Special Scientific Interest in the area.
Walsall Council report this habitat type as rare in England, though the site's ecological value is described as "uncertain", owing to pressure from invasive scrub of goat willow and sallow.
A book published in 1987 says the pools were a "nationally important swallow roost",[7] however, Walsall Council suggest this is no longer the case.
