Susanna Wimperis

She was fifth in a family of eight children born to Mary (née Morison) and Edmund Wimperis.

Of her siblings, Edmund, Frances (Fanny) and Ann (Jenny) also became artists.

[1] She and her sisters were members of the Naturalists Field Club, of which Charles Kingsley, of The Water Babies fame, was the leader.

[4] She painted many scenes of the West Coast of the South Island, and of Karitane, near Dunedin.

[3] A large number of her works are held by the Hocken Collections, Dunedin.
