In 2006, UTV Media purchased the Wireless Group, owners of radio stations across the UK including Swansea Sound.

In July 2022, Greatest Hits Radio ended broadcasting on its medium-wave transmitter (1170 kHz) in South West Wales, after nearly 48 years on air.

[7] On 12 January 2023, it was announced that, in April 2023, Greatest Hits Radio would replace its local daytime programming - including breakfast, morning and afternoon shows - with networked programmes.
