He had been Provincial Minister of Punjab for Information and Culture from 6 March 2019 to 19 July 2019 after resignation of Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan.

On 20 July 2020, he was appointed provincial minister of Punjab for Fisheries and Wildlife and stayed in that role until April 2022.

Syed Sajjad Haider Kirmani had served as minister several times, he was uncle of Syeda Jugnu Mohsin MPA.

Under the guidance of Syed Sajjad Haider Sumsam Ali participated his first election as an independent candidate.

Sumsam Ali participated in the 2008 general Elections from PPPP ticket and this time he succeeded with a heavy margin from Syed Gulzar Sabtain.

Sumsam Ali's former rival Gulzar Sabtain also joined hands with him in the early months 2018 and continue to work together.

Syed Sumsam Ali along with the whole of the Okara district and many seasoned politicians, lost the 2018 general elections to the PML-N.
