Sylvain Jacques Brial (born 16 September 1964)[1] is a Wallisian politician and former member of the French National Assembly.
His grandmother was Aloisia Brial, Lavelua (queen) of Uvéa from 1954 to 1958, and his father is politician Cyprien Brial, who served in the Territorial Assembly of Wallis and Futuna from 1967 to 1987.
[2] He subsequently contested the 2017 French legislative election, but was defeated in the first round by incumbent Napole Polutele.
[6][7] During the resulting by-election Brial stood as a candidate for Les Republicains, and promised the acquisition of an ATR 42 aircraft to serve Wallis and Futuna.
[1][11] In September 2019 he suffered a serious stroke during a trip by his parliamentary group to La Rochelle which led to him being placed in an artificial coma.
