[1] Takefu Station is served by the Hapi-Line Fukui Line,[2] and is located 35.1 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Tsuruga.

The station building is located on the south side of the tracks.

The station has a "Midori no Madoguchi" staffed ticket office.

[3] With the privatization of Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.

[3] Effective the 16 March 2024 timetable revision, this station was transferred to the Hapi-Line Fukui Line due to the opening of the western extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Tsuruga.
