Takhteh Pol (Dari: تختهپل), also known as Takhtapul, is a village in Balkh Province in northern Afghanistan.
[1] It was created by Afzal Khan (son of Dost Mohammad Khan) as a cantonment after the Afghan conquest of the Balkh Wilayat in 1849-1850.
[2] Balkh was in ruins, so with materials from the ruined town of Balkh,[2] he established the city of Takhtapul.
[3][4] Gardens and courts were created as well.
