Tapan Kumar Deka (born 25 February 1963) is the 28th Director of the Intelligence Bureau of India.

[6] Deka earlier denied the post of the Director general of police of Himachal Pradesh.

[7] During his police service, Tapan Deka mostly worked with the Intelligence Bureau of India.

As announced by Appointments Committee of the Cabinet Deka's tenure was extended by the till June 2025 as the chief of the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

[19] Deka is believed to be the key official of the surgical strike in Balakot, Pakistan.
