Tarrant Monkton

[1] Within the parish boundary, 1+1⁄2 miles (2.5 kilometres) over hills to the west, lies the major part of Blandford Camp army base (including the Royal Signals Museum).

The village is centred on the All Saints Parish Church, opposite which is the Langton Arms, a public house and restaurant.

[5] The Tarrant Valley was agriculturally prosperous in the early 19th century due to high wheat prices and low labour costs.

All Saints parish church is built of flint and ashlar and has a chancel dating from around 1400, and a 15th-century nave and west tower, though the building was substantially altered in the 18th century and in 1873.

The ward had a population of 3,302 in the 2011 census[7] and is part of the constituency of North Dorset, which is currently represented in the UK parliament by the Conservative Simon Hoare.
