The most conspicuous and imposing peak of Pir Panjal range is undoubtedly Tatakooti.

Tatakooti, along with Sunset Peak, lies south west of the Kashmir valley.

Early exploration of the Pirpanjal Range was carried by Thomas Montgomerie and Godwin Austen in 1856.

[5] The first ascent of Tatakooti peak was made in 1901 by C. E. Barton and Dr Ernest Neve.

In the year 2021 a team with MLA SURANKOTE chowdhary Akram, summit the peak in just two days from base camp(HILLKAKA).
