According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 33.5 square miles (87 km2), all land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 1,684 people, 635 households, and 485 families residing in the township.

There were 742 housing units at an average density of 22.2 per square mile (8.6/km2).

There were 635 households, out of which 32.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.8% were married couples living together, 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 23.5% were non-families.

19.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 9.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
