He played college football for the Florida State Seminoles, earning consensus All-American honors in 2000.
He was selected by the San Diego Chargers in the third round of the 2001 NFL draft, and he also played for the Edmonton Eskimos and Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL.
He was regarded as one of Georgia's top 50 prospects and received one of the higher grades from Jeff Whitaker's Deep South Football.

Cody coached football at Bay High School in Panama City, Florida until 2012.
