He played college football at the University of New Mexico, where he was the 2020 recipient of the Wuerffel Trophy, awarded to the player who "best combines exemplary community service with athletic and academic achievement.
Saltes was selected with the fourth pick of the sixth round by the Michigan Panthers on February 22, 2022, during the 2022 USFL draft.
[13] The Arlington Renegades selected Saltes in the first round of the 2023 XFL Supplemental Draft on January 1, 2023.
[17] On March 18, 2024, Saltes signed with the St. Louis Battlehawks of the United Football League (UFL).
