As described in a film magazine,[3] Pamela (Duke) and Herbert Arnott (Royce) have been happily married for five years and have had two children.

On the day of their wedding anniversary, Pamela receives a letter from another woman signed Lucy Arnott which states that she is the legal wife of Herbert.

Herbert confirms that this is the truth and explains that Lucy refused to give him a divorce.

For the sake of their children, Pamela continues to live with Herbert, but their governess Blanche (Everest) later overhears a conversation between them and learns the truth regarding the status of the marriage.

Pamela discharges Blanche, and on the day the governess leaves Herbert also departs.
