The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters

The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters is the first novel by playwright Gordon Dahlquist and was published in the US on August 1, 2006.

The idea for the book came to Dahlquist during jury duty in Manhattan in 2004, when he had a dream the second night about a mystery in a strange, dark, Victorian building.

[1][2] The book follows three main characters, Miss Celestial "Celeste" Temple, Cardinal Chang, and Captain-Surgeon Abelard Svenson, as they attempt to thwart the mysterious plot of a sinister cabal.

[3] For the novel's publication in the UK, Penguin Books decided to publish each of the ten chapters as weekly instalments available to customers who paid for the subscription.

Dahlquist was reportedly paid an advance of $2,000,000 for The Glass Books of the Dream Eaters, the first of a two-book deal.
