Thelymitra speciosa

Thelymitra speciosa, commonly called the eastern Queen of Sheba,[2] is a species of orchid in the family Orchidaceae and endemic to the south-west of Western Australia.

Thelymitra speciosa is a tuberous, perennial herb with an erect, dark green leaf which is egg-shaped near its purplish base, then suddenly narrows to a linear, channelled, spiral leaf 30–70 mm (1–3 in) long and 4–7 mm (0.2–0.3 in) wide.

[2][3][4][5] Thelymitra speciosa was first formally described in 2009 by Jeff Jeanes and the description was published in Muelleria.

[5] The eastern Queen of Sheba grows with dense shrubs in winter-wet areas between the Stirling Ranges and Lake Grace in the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains and Mallee biogeographic regions.

[2][3][4][8] Thelymitra speciosa is classified as "not threatened" by the Western Australian Government Department of Parks and Wildlife.
