Thomas Hord Herndon (July 1, 1828 – March 28, 1883) was a U.S. Representative from Alabama who also served as an officer in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.
In 1857 and 1858 he served as member of the State house of representatives and became a trustee of the University of Alabama in 1858.
He returned to Greene County in 1859 and served as member of the State secession convention in 1861.
During the Civil War he volunteered for the Confederate States Army and joined the 36th Regiment Alabama Infantry as a Major.
