Todd Ray Clear (born March 15, 1949)[1] is an American criminologist and distinguished professor in the school of criminal justice at Rutgers University–Newark.
[3] He joined the faculty of Rutgers University–Newark in 1978 as a professor in the school of criminal justice, a position he held until 1996.
He served as the Associate Dean of the Florida State University College of Criminology and Criminal Justice from 1996 to 1999.
[2] In 2010, he became the dean of the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, a position he held until September 1, 2014, when he was replaced by Shadd Maruna.
[4][5] After serving as interim chancellor of Rutgers University–Newark for six months, he became the provost in January 2014, a position he held for two years.
