Tom Hewitt first started playing football at the age of 11 for Hawarden County Schools.
Upon leaving school he joined Sandycroft where he won his first honours, the Chester & District League.
[2] Hewitt signed as a Professional with Saltney in 1908 and was part of the team who were runners up in The Combination in 1908–09 and 1909–10.
[4] He left Chelsea following a bad injury and signed for Swansea Town in 1914 following a spell at South Liverpool.
[5] He was forced to give up football due to an injury sustained in his work as an engineer.
