Transnational Institute

The Transnational Institute (TNI), is an international non-profit research and advocacy think tank that was founded in 1974 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

[1] In 1976 the director of the institute (Orlando Letelier) was assassinated by the Chilean secret police as ordered by Augusto Pinochet.

Its members include activists, researchers, writers, scholars, journalists and documentary makers.

The program analyses worldwide trends on drugs-policies and promotes a pragmatic approach to drugs based on damage-control.

[10] Ricardo Soberón, a lawyer, academic, writer and consultant for Peru's governmental policies on drugs, has carried out research for TNI.
