Tsaile is located approximately 29 miles (47 km) east of Chinle, just outside the boundaries of Canyon de Chelly National Monument.

[3] As of the census[5] of 2000, there were 1,078 people, 244 households, and 200 families residing in the CDP.

There were 345 housing units at an average density of 57.4 per square mile (22.2/km2).

16.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.

The area is served by Chinle Unified School District#24.
