Haighton visited Benito Mussolini who had just taken power after the March on Rome, and the relatively unknown Adolf Hitler.
In the summer of 1924, the party would merge with the Society for Constructive Politics (Dutch: Genootschap voor Opbouwende Staatkunde), a group of Catholic intellectuals led by Verviers.

Sinclair founded the De Bezem [nl] (The Broom) in 1928, and a group of VvA members including Haighton followed him.
