[1] The security council recalled the Secretary-General Kofi Annan's conclusion that Israel had withdrawn its forces from Lebanon as of 16 June 2000, in accordance with Resolution 425.
It emphasised the temporary nature of the UNIFIL operation and noted that it had completed two out of three parts of its mandate, while expressing concern at tensions along the Blue Line and the possibility of escalation.
It particularly condemned recent incidents along the line, which resulted in the deaths of United Nations peacekeepers.
The secretary-general was requested to continue consultations with the Lebanese government and troop-contributing countries concerning the implementation of the current resolution.
It further directed him to report on the activities of UNIFIL and on tasks conducted by the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization (UNTSO).
