Upper Burnie is a residential locality in the local government area (LGA) of Burnie in the North-west and west LGA region of Tasmania.

The locality is about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the town of Burnie.

The 2016 census recorded a population of 1821 for the state suburb of Upper Burnie.

It is situated on the hill above Burnie accessed via Mount Street.
