Upon its establishment, UTC inherited 957 buses from the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC).

For efficient functioning the corporation has been divided into 3 divisions Dehradun, Nainital and Tanakpur.

The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) owns and operates a fleet of over 1,345 buses.
