Veytaux

Veytaux is a municipality in the district of Riviera-Pays-d'Enhaut in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland.

[3] Veytaux has an area, as of 2009[update], of 6.8 square kilometers (2.6 sq mi).

[9] Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks French (701 or 82.4%) as their first language, with German being second most common (62 or 7.3%) and English being third (25 or 2.9%).

[10] The age distribution, as of 2009[update], in Veytaux is; 70 children or 8.5% of the population are between 0 and 9 years old and 64 teenagers or 7.8% are between 10 and 19.

The entire urban village of Territet/Veytaux and the region around Chillon Castle are part of the Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites.

[14] In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the SVP which received 24.66% of the vote.

In the federal election, a total of 232 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 37.3%.

[9] There were 444 residents of the municipality who were employed in some capacity, of which females made up 42.8% of the workforce.

The number of jobs in the primary sector was 3, of which were in agriculture and 3 were in forestry or lumber production.

In the tertiary sector; 8 or 9.3% were in wholesale or retail sales or the repair of motor vehicles, 1 was in the movement and storage of goods, 21 or 24.4% were in a hotel or restaurant, 14 or 16.3% were technical professionals or scientists, 2 or 2.3% were in education and 2 or 2.3% were in health care.

[9] From the 2000 census[update], 325 or 38.2% were Roman Catholic, while 301 or 35.4% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.

In the Vaud cantonal school system, two years of non-obligatory pre-school are provided by the political districts.

The canton's primary school program requires students to attend for four years.

[17] In 2009 the Fondation du Château de Chillon was visited by 313,200 visitors (the average in previous years was 290,098).
