Vishnudham is a prominent temple with 2nd largest Idol of Lord Vishnu in the world, situated in Samas, Bihar.
This ancient idol was buried under the soil for centuries in the vast reservoir of Gram Samas.
On July 5, 1992, during the month of Ashadha, on the Shukla Panchami Sunday, some people unearthed this magnificent idol of Lord Vishnu from the soil.
Due to our deeply religious social structure, a large crowd of devotees gathered spontaneously.
The idol has four arms carrying a "sankha (conch)", a chakra (discus)", a gada (mace) and a lotus.
The Pratihara king Mahendrapal (891-907 AD) used this style of script in the Dighwa-Duli donation inscription from ancient times.
