Vojany Power Station

[1][2] The first plant was designed to use semi-anthracite coal imported from Ukraine by a purpose-built wide-gauge rail line.

Cooling water is supplied from the Zemplínska Šírava reservoir.

[2] Its flue gas stack, which was completed in 1974, was originally 300 metres (984 ft) tall.

This decommissioning ended the production of electricity from coal in Slovakia.

Future use of this area as a solar park or battery storage is being considered.
