WCHZ (1480 AM) was a radio station broadcasting a classic hip hop format, simulcasting WCHZ-FM 93.1 Warranton, Georgia.
Licensed to Augusta, Georgia, United States, the station was owned by Beasley Media Group.
The station was first licensed in 1930 to Warren C. Davenport's Musicove, Inc., at 309 Eighth Street in Augusta, for 100 watts on 1370 kHz.
[5] The FCC's initial policy was that both the original station and its expanded band counterpart could operate simultaneously for up to five years, after which owners would have to turn in one of the two licenses, depending on whether they preferred the new assignment or elected to remain on the original frequency,[4] although this deadline was extended multiple times.
[5] On January 21, 2015, WCHZ began simulcasting WHHD-HD2, and WCHZ-FM 95.5 FM, branded as "Hot 95.5/93.1" with a classic hip-hop format.
