Of the rest of the land, 10.6% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (1.3%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
It consists of the village of Waldstatt and a number of hamlets and farm houses.
Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (90.9%), with Turkish being second most common ( 2.8%) and Serbo-Croatian being third ( 1.6%).
