[3] While the City of Waukesha sued, challenging the legality of the incorporation,[4] the Village eventually won the fight after the Wisconsin Supreme Court let a lower court ruling stand that upheld the incorporation.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 8,596 people, 2,891 households, and 2,494 families residing in the town.

There were 2,945 housing units at an average density of 128.7 per square mile (49.7/km2).

11.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 3.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
