Wendy Mitchinson (1947-2021) was a Canadian historian and a Canada Research Chair in Gender and Medical history at the University of Waterloo.
Mitchinson trained at York University and quickly became a major figure in the field of Canadian women's history.
She joined the University of Waterloo with tenure in 1985, and continued as a professor emerita after her 2013 retirement.
Her most recent book, "Giving Birth in Canada: 1900-1950", examines the history of childbirth in a Canadian context.
She was awarded two Royal Society of Canada Jason A. Hannah medals for publication in the history of medicine, and 2013 University of Waterloo's Award of Excellence in Graduate Supervision.
