Wheatley, South Yorkshire

It lies immediately north-east of the centre of Doncaster, mostly south of the A630 dual carriageway.

It is bounded to the north by the River Don, to the east by Wheatley Hills, and to the south by Intake.

There are numerous new housing and retail developments currently under construction to the north of the A630, opposite the Wheatley Centre shopping park.

[2] Wheatley was historically a hamlet within the ancient parish of Doncaster, although it was sometimes described as an extra-parochial tract.

The parish and urban district were abolished on 9 November 1914 when the area was absorbed into the borough of Doncaster.
