Wildon (German: [vilˈdoːn]) is a small town located between Leibnitz and Graz in the Austrian country of Styria.
It was mainly known due to a minstrel called Herrand von Wildonie, who lived during the 13th century and was also engaged in local politics.
According to legends, Wildon received its name from a wild man who was living in a cave on the nearby Schlossberg hill.
In 1918, Rudolf Maister demanded that German troops withdraw to Wildon to ensure Slovenia's "national border".
Wildon is situated on a cycle track which runs alongside the Mur river from Graz to Bad Radkersburg.
